Tours and Events

Hanaru's tours and events have been a very popular way of raising funds for the Charity.
We aim for everyone to have the maximum amount of enjoyment out of these events and there is some very hard work behind the scenes to ensure these fundraisers run as smoothly as possible.

Hanaru would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to those of you who have supported us in creating positive changes in the Indian girls' lives.

Golf Day Fundraiser - July 2024

Hanaru’s amazing tour organised by Divya and led by Board Member, Mic, started in Delhi, with a few days in Jaipur and finished off in Kolkata where our tours centred around the Ganges, ‘the mother river.

In Delhi, the tour group took part in what was, for them, a truly inspiring event that deeply affected them. They visited the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a prominent Sikh temple that provides free meals to thousands of people daily as a service to mankind. The temple’s kitchen, run by volunteers, serves an unlimited buffet to everyone who walks in, regardless of caste, creed, or religion.

In Jaipur, we went to the Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical site with a collection of stone-built instruments that accurately predict the time and seasons. It was completed in 1734 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Hanaru's 14-day tour of Japan was led by Kayoko. The tour travelled to Tokyo, Oirase, Kawagoe, Kinugawa, Aomori, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, and back to Tokyo.

In Oirase, they walked for an hour on the National Park trail to Lake Towada, enjoying fresh air and beautiful waterfalls. In Kawagoe, they were lucky to witness traditional floats in the Kawagoe festival and joined thousands of people enjoying the street foods and traditional music played on Taiko drums and flutes. In Kyoto, the highlights were visiting the historic Kiyomizu temple and seeing girls wearing traditional kimonos. In Nara, the magnificent Buddha and Deer Park were unforgettable. The group also enjoyed the "onsen" (natural hot springs that have been heated by the Earth) experience.

The Fabulous Feast - April 2021

Hanaru's major fundraising event for 2021 was “The Fabulous Feast” held in Tyalgum Hall. A most beautiful day on so many levels. A huge thank you to the band of helpers.

A special mention is deserved by the kitchen staff headed by the Sri Govinda Dham group, who did an amazing job with the catering. We also wish to thank MC Sam Morrin, along with Sharni and John Forrester - our musicians - who all donated their time.

The day raised $8,611 which included $941 from the raffle proceeds.
